Звучит музыка, юноша и девушка исполняют медленный танец. После исполнения, юноша дарит девушке розу.

В1: Love, happiness, beauty! There are not so many days in a year when we pronounce these pleasant words. But today you have an excellent chance to plunge in the atmosphere of love and joy, to take part in our wonderful party.

B2: Here is a valentine

B1: Ladies and gentlemen! Good evening!

B2: It’s nice to meet you here at St. Valentine’s party!

B1: It’s here again, such a wonderful day, the day when sweethearts, lovers and friends exchange greetings of affection, undying love or satirical comment. This day reminds us of love, kindness, friendship and patience in our wicked world.

B2: Countless generations of young people have acknowledged St. Valentine as the friend and patron of lovers,

B1: But what kind of holiday is St. Valentine’s Day? It is a religious holiday, which is celebrated in Great Britain, in many European countries and in the USA. St. Valentine’s day has roots in several legends.

B2: This is one of the legends of how St. Valentine’s Day began. When the Roman Emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying because he thought that marriage made men want to stay at home instead of fighting in wars. But at that time there was a kind priest named Valentine. He couldn’t agree with the Emperor’s decision. When he saw that young couples were truly in love, he married them secretly. But one day he was discovered and put into prison. He was killed on the 14-th of February.

B1: There are many other legends about how St. Valentine’s Day started, and no one knows for sure if any of them are true. Also there are very many traditions of celebrating St. Valentine’s Day in different countries. But some traditions are common for many countries. One of them is to give Valentine cards, which are usually not signed. Another tradition is to give presents to sweethearts. Today we held a contest of presents and now we shall announce the results of it and give prizes to the winners.

B2: There are no poet in the world who didn’t write about love. Pushkin and Lermontov, Goethe and Byron, and of course Shakespeare who honored love in his wonderful sonnets.

На сцену выходят учащиеся и читают сонеты Шекспира на английском и русском языке.

B1: The road of lovers is hard and very long. Sometimes they have to overcome difficulties and even sufferings before their hearts will unite for ever. You know the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”. It is devoted to the real love. We invite to the old England to the house of Capuletti.

Учащиеся одного из классов исполняют фрагмент трагедии В. Шекспира «Ромео и Джульетта».

B2: One of very popular traditions of St. Valentine’s parties is choosing the King and the Queen. And today the strongest and bravest boys and the prettiest girls will compete for this title. We invite our couples to take part in the contest.

Проводятся несколько конкурсов с участием заранее выбранных пар на звание Короля и Королевы:

- Кто дольше продержит свою девушку на руках;

- Кто сделает самый красивый букет;

- Конкурс на лучшее признание в любви;

- Танцевальный конкурс;

-Викторина на знание поэтов-лириков.

По итогам конкурса объявляются Король и Королева. Им одевают короны и они садятся на импровизированный трон на сцене.

B2: At the wedding of A. Pushkin and N. Goncharova people sang the poet’s favourite song. Folk songs… So beautiful and sensitive. In England in the 19-th century ballads were very popular. Listen to one of such ballads.

B1: Our program is over. We hope that you liked it. But our party is going on. Now we shall dance, play and have contests.
